What’s the purpose of obtaining a second U.S. Passport?

U.S. citizens have the option to hold two valid passports simultaneously. This is particularly useful for frequent international travelers who may not have time to obtain visas before departing for their next trip, or for those needing to visit countries where entry is restricted with certain passport stamps. These additional passports, previously known as “two-year passports” were valid for only two years until May 2016 when their validity was extended to four years.

Important:

  • The ABC Passport Request Form and ABC Authorization Form must be included with every service request.
  • All signatures must be original. Digitally printed signatures are not accepted by the U.S. Department of State.

  2. Current U.S. Passport
    1. Please note that it is MANDATORY to provide:
      *Your Current 10-year passport (which must have at least one year of validity. If not, you will need to renew it before applying for the second passport. See Passport Renewal Process)*
    2. If you have already been issued a 2 years second passport in the past, you must
      send it along with your current 10-years passport.
  3. Two (2) recent identical passport-size pictures (2”x2”) (less than 90 days old)
  4. One (1) completed and signed application form DSP-82
  5. Travel Itinerary showing departure date and travel destination
  6. An authorization letter 1 and authorization letter 2 with original signature from the applicant. (Letters of Authorizations MUST have a hard signature! Scanned, Faxes, or Photocopies are NOT accepted by the United States Passport Agency.)
  7. ABC Visa and Passport SVCS request form filled out.
  8. ABC VISA & PASSPORT service fee
